Not even cold weather can stop Southwest Michigan from bringing the fun! Check out the variety of events happening throughout the month of February.

FAMILY ACTIVITIES

Nature is beautiful no matter the time of year, and Sarett Nature Center knows that. February 19-26, they are holding Maple Sugar 101 for the family. Learn how to identify maple trees and how to get syrup! Better yet, each group gets to take home a quart of finished syrup.

Calling all builders! Silver Beach Carousel is hosting a Builders Bash. All creative minds 5-18 years of age are encouraged to showcase their unique LEGO creations. The Builders Bash will be showcased at the carousel from March 1 to April 14. But, submissions end on February 20.

Art is everywhere…even in soap! Forever Clean Soap Works is hosting Basic Soap Making Classes throughout February. Visit their website for sign-ups, and let your artistic side fly in the cleanest way possible.

If you can handle the heat, get over to Water Street Glassworks. Throughout winter and spring, they are hosting various courses teaching you how to make glass masterpieces.

EAT + DRINK

Love is in the air—self-love included! Bring your loved one, or just your lovely self, to Lazy Ballerina Winery on February 14 for a Cookie Decorating Class! Sip on some wine, decorate some cookies and celebrate your Valentine's Day in style.

Relaxation is at the tip of your fingers thanks to the YMCA of Greater Michiana. Partnering with The Livery, stop by the YMCA on February 19 from 12:30p-1:30p for Yoga On Tap. While doing the lotus pose, participants also get to sip on delightful brews—non-alcoholic options available!

There’s no longer a need to go on vacation because Sister Lakes Brewing Company is bringing the Alps to you. Enjoy a five-course meal inspired by the French Alps on February 21 from 5:30p-8:00p. Alongside that, enjoy tasty brews that compliment the cuisine. Seating is limited, so purchase tickets in advance on their website. Bon appetit!

Find your new favorite wine at the St. Joe Wine Shoppe! Every Sunday, they open three new bottles of wine, all different styles, during Wine Sample Sundays from 1:00p-5:00p!

Get your fill on delicious oysters at Silver Harbor Brewing. February 23 at 4:30p, come on down for fresh oysters, specialty sauces and live shucking!

Time flies when you’re having amazing food, and 221 Main knows that. Celebrating their 10-year anniversary, check out their special deals and unique menu items on their website. Join the celebration with them while also enjoying delicious cuisine.

Tabor Hill Winery understands the importance of date night. To showcase that, they’re featuring a special Table For Two deal on Fridays. You and one other person can enjoy two entrees with soup or salad for only 50 dollars. Sip some wine, and have a great time!

LIVE PERFORMANCES

You may remember the twenty-first night of September, but you don’t want to miss the memorable Winter Delights event at The Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College. Featuring Shining Star: A Tribute to Earth, Wind, and Fire, the music starts at 8:00p on February 25, with pre-show drink and chocolate sessions at 6:00p. Make sure to come by to witness the event the community adores.

Local musical talent isn’t far away. The Livery has live music on weekends throughout February. Check out their website for an event calendar, and enjoy some great tunes with equally great food and brew.

Music isn’t the only performance going on in Southwest Michigan this February. Presented by the Journeyman Distillery, join comedians Casey Curran and Gerrit Elzinga as they put on their show, Comedy On The Rocks. On February 23 at 8:00p, come down to Journeyman for this event. Seating is limited.

Who let the cat out of the box about the open-mic night? It might’ve been the Box Factory for the Arts as they host their Out Of The Box: Open Mic Night on March 1. Going from 7:00p-9:00p, come by the view singing, dancing, comedy and other talents!
