Double, double toil and trouble. We’re on the search for all things spooky in Michigan’s Great Southwest! It’s been a fun-packed fall with even more to come through the end of the month. With everything from trick-or-treating and spooky-themed classes, Halloween parties, activities for the whole family and more! Keep reading for festive events leading up to Halloween.

 

TRICK-OR-TREATING

OCTOBER 29

Berrien County Animal Control invites the community to their annual Drive-Thru Halloween Treat Trail from 9:30a-12:00p.

The City of St. Joseph hosts Truck or Treat from 4:00p-6:00p at the John & Dede Howard Ice Arena.

OCTOBER 30

Haymarket Brewery and Taproom hosts Trunk or Treat and Live Music. Trunk or Treat starts at 12:00p and live music at 2:00p. Candy and cider available for the little ones and discounted liquid treats for the big ones! Costumes encouraged but not required. 

OCTOBER 31

Downtown St. Joseph and the Benton Harbor Arts District host Halloween Trick-Or-Treat, sponsored by Holt Bosse, from 4:30p-6:00p.

St. Joseph City-wide trick-or-treating is scheduled from 6:00p-7:30p.

Slacker’s Family Fun Center hosts Halloween Trunk-Or-Treat from 6:00p-8:30p.

 

FRIGHTFUL FAMILY FUN

Throughout the month of October, find the witch hidden in twelve participating locations in downtown St. Joseph! Pick up your Where’s the Witch passport for the St. Joe Today Welcome Center and start the search. 

SWMI businesses and restaurants will display their decorated pumpkins during Pumpkins on Parade, October 21-31! Visit participating locations to view their decorated pumpkins and vote online for your favorite. Voting will be available at stjoetoday.com/vote from 10:00a October 21 to 11:59p October 31.

Take a 45-minute guided historical tour of the St. Joe City Cemetery, including the Mausoleum, on October 22 from 1:00p-6:00p. Spooky Tours will start on the hour, quarter, half and ¾ (ex. 1:00p, 1:15p, 1:30p, 1:45p).

Eden Springs Park hosts Halloween miniature train rides on select dates in October! Catch these spooky train rides on October 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30 from 5:00p-9:00p. Cash only.

Enjoy a Halloween Bash hosted by Slacker’s Family Fun Center on October 22 from 5:00p-9:00p. Advance tickets are $20/person and include games, prizes, music raffle, contests, arcade play, unlimited laser tag, laser maze and bounce (ages 2-12) and more!

Trinity Lutheran Church hosts Hallow Him, a fall alternative to trick-or-treating, on October 23 from 4:00p-6:00p. Kids are encouraged to wear costumes, as they enjoy trick-or-treat stations, games, bounce houses, a boo-tique and refreshments! Entry fee is one bag of candy per child. 

Something wicked is coming at Sarett Nature Center! On October 29, families are invited to Sarett’s Spooky Halloween from 4:00p-9:00p. Attendees will enjoy a stroll through the trails, spooky crafts, game stations, a haunted hayride (gets spookier after dark!), photo station and more. Tickets are $5/person and book fast, so reserve your spot today!

Those brave enough to enter the Haunted Scarousel this October are in for a treat. The Silver Beach Carousel is decorated for Halloween! Through the end of October, kids under 18 wearing a full costume will receive one free ride (limited to one per child, per day). Each weekend hosts new spooky fun!

Head to the Berrien County Historical Association (BCHA) for Fireside Tales: Ghostly Voices on October 29 at 7:30p! Twin City Players joins BCHA to share some ghostly tales, a mix of traditional tales and local legends, beside the fire in the Murdoch Cabin. Space is limited, and reservations are required. 

 

WIZARDING WORKSHOPS

Lazy Ballerina Winery hosts a Halloween Wine Glass Painting Class on October 25 from 5:30p-7:00p. Reservations required - includes supplies to paint two wine glasses and one glass of wine.

JLN Studio hosts fall painting classes this October! Check out the Sunflower Painting class on October 27 from 6:00p-8:30p and a Family Pumpkin Painting class on October 29 from 10:00a-11:30p.

 

ENCHANTING EVENTS

Silver Harbor Brewing hosts a Halloween Horror Movie Themed Trivia Night from 7:00p-9:00p on October 20. Win free stuff; free to play!

Catch the latest Twin City Players production, The Psychic, a murder mystery of sorts! Performances run Friday-Sunday, October 21 through November 6.

Peat’s Cider Social hosts a Halloween Market on October 22 from 1:00p-6:00p! Enjoy a variety of makers/artisans, food vendors and live music. 

Dance the night away during Journeyman Distillery’s Halloween Dance Party on October 29 at 8:00p! Tickets are $10/person and includes a welcome drink. Attendees are sure to enjoy Halloween-inspired cocktails, DJ entertainment and fire pits. Costumes are optional but strongly encouraged!

Watermark Brewing hosts a Halloween Party at the Solarium on October 29 at 6:00p! $10/person with a costume; $15/person without a costume (must be 21+). This event features DJ entertainment, spooky cocktails, beer, wine and cider and food by Pupusa Time!

Eat, drink and be scary at Round Barn Estate’s annual Hallowine party on October 29. The fun starts at 11:00a. Attendees will enjoy live music, a specialty cocktail and pumpkin bowling!

Terror at Tabor returns to Tabor Hill on October 29 from 6:00p-10:00p. Attendees will enjoy an unforgettable Spooky Speakeasy Soirée! This event is $20/person (general admission) and includes one complimentary beverage or $15/person (zero proof ticket) and includes one complimentary non-alcoholic beverage! Attendees will also enjoy a costume contest, raffle, food, DJ entertainment and more.

Something wicked this way comes to downtown Baroda! Join Chill Hill Winery for their 3rd Annual Chill Hill-O-Ween Costume Party on Saturday, October 29 from 6:00p-9:00p. Attendees will enjoy music by DJ Marc Van Patten, a costume contest, palm readings ($30) and tarot readings ($40) - cash only. 

Join The Inn at Harbor Shores for their Halloween Party on October 29 from 7:00p-11:00p! This event features live music from the Modern Day Drifters and a costume contest. $20/person includes entrance to the party, complimentary popcorn bar, live music, cash bar and entrance in the costume contest!
